HCP Attendee Policy

This Stryker Canada policy applies to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs)i interacting with Stryker Canada for Stryker Canada produced and managed Product Training Courses, Product Demonstrations and Advisory Panels.

Questions regarding any aspect of this policy may be directed to the Medical Education - mededcanada@stryker.com

Stryker Canada is guided by the MEDEC Code of Conduct and our internal compliance policy . Stryker has a responsibility to educate and train Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in the use of our products. When we produce a training course for HCPs, the program must be held in a facility conducive to training and must be conducted by qualified persons. Stryker may pay reasonable travel expenses and accommodation costs for HCPs to attend these training courses. We may also provide modest meals and receptions for attendees as long as they are subordinate in time and focus to the purpose of the meeting. Stryker is able to pay for travel and/or accommodation costs for HCPs attending National Product Training courses and Advisory Panels, but cannot pay for some regional or in-territory training events.

Stryker recognizes that some HCPs may be bound by provincial, state or institutional code of ethics policies which restrict certain offerings from industry, including, but not limited to, support for travel, accommodation and meals. By registering for a Stryker Product Training course, you attest that your participation is not in breach of any policies you may be subject to as it relates to interactions with industry. In cases where restrictions apply, Stryker will be in contact with you to organize meeting and travel details directly once your registration is complete.

Since these programs are specific to Stryker Canada, our courses are not CME accredited; however, a certificate of attendance can be produced upon request.

Registration

For all courses, attendees must register on-line and receive a confirmation at the conclusion of registration to be accepted to attend the course. For Product Training courses and Advisory Panels, air, train, hotel preferences must be provided to Stryker Canada at the time of registration and no later than two weeks prior to the meeting. All travel and accommodation arrangements must be made through Stryker's Medical Education Department no later than two weeks prior to the meeting.

Stryker will not be able to support travel or accommodation costs for Product Demonstration events and some regional or in-territory training events. The individual registration site will indicate the type of training event. Not all Stryker Canada courses are open to Fellows and Residents. The registration website will indicate whether Fellows and Residents are being accepted. In order to attend our training courses, Fellows and Residents are required to complete and return to our Medical Education Department, at least one month in advance of the course date, a form from their hospital signed by the Chief of Staff or comparable level of authority. This is an attestation that they meet the criteria and are an eligible attendee for the training course.

Once Stryker Canada has this form on file, the Fellow/Resident may complete their registration for the course.

Fellows who will continue to practice in Canada at the end of their Fellowship and 5th Year Residents practicing in Canada are permitted to register once they have submitted an authorized form.

Stryker Canada will arrange and prepay the hotel room rate and tax if the following conditions are met:

  • The program lasts at least six hours; and
  • The program ends after 4:00pm
In circumstances when commercial air/train travel is unavailable in order for the HCP to return home prior to 11:00pm on the final day of the course, one hotel room will be allowed for this night.
